The bridge fishers are catching yellowjack.

Fisher holding yellow jack

Yellow jack at the bridges:

While mackerel have begun to run, another fish dominates bridge fishing. That fish is yellow jack, also known as amberjack. The fish offers up a good fight, making it fun to catch, which is where the fish’s popularity comes from. It is also good eating, the battle to land the fish come with a good reward if it is of the legal size of course. While you can find it at all the bridges in the Florida Keys, the main ones where people are catching the fish are Long Key Bridge, Channel 2, and 5. All three are relatively close to Sea Bird Marina, which can supply all the bait and tackle needed to catch yellow jack.

Long Key bridge:

It is located between Long Key and Conch Key. And due to its three-mile length, it has plenty of room to find an open spot to fish for yellow jack. It is only a short drive from Sea Bird Marina, so stock up on bait and tackle for your fishing trip with us.

 Channel 2 and 5:

These two bridges are on either side of Craig’s key despite being two of the same quality. Every angler has their personal preference of which bridge they like better.
